5 Ways to Keep Hydrated This Summer

We are well into summer, and the heat is on. It might be on your radar or maybe not, but drinking water is essential for keeping hydrated. It is particularly important for pregnant women and children to drink water. If you start feeling a bit parched or your mouth is often dry, here are 5 ways to keep hydrated this summer.

keeping hydrated
1- Drink water with citrus slices. Adding a few lemon slices or orange slices to your drinking water will help you keep hydrated. Since it’s pleasing to your palate, you will find the refreshing quality enjoyable and drink more water.

2- Drink before you get thirsty. If you get thirsty, you know you need to drink more water. Try to avoid this by eating juicy food. Watermelon, oranges, cucumbers. These types of foods contain water. You don’t need to keep hydrated by simply drinking water.

3- Drink water instead of soda, juice. Limiting your alcohol and caffeine intake will also help you keep hydrated. Blended iced margaritas by the pool may be tempting, but alcohol will dehydrate you faster than water.

4- Flavored ice cubes. One great trick on keeping hydrated is flavoring your ice cubes. It works in the same fashion as citrus slices. If it tastes good, you will drink more water.

5- Carry around a reusable water bottle. Not all water bottles are made the same. There are some fun, advanced water bottles with a built in filtration system. These are perfect for your summer camping trips. If you are uncertain about the water, the filtration system will remove unwanted bacteria. This water bottle removes up to 99.99% of pollutants for up to 100 gallons.
