NOTICE: Boil-water advisory issued for Key Peninsula community

A boil-water advisory is in effect for members of the Lake of the Woods Community Club in Wauna on the Key Peninsula after E. coli was detected in a water sample from Friday.

The State Department of Health is working with the water system operator of the Pierce County community to find the source of the contamination, but has advised residents to boil any tap water used for drinking, preparing food, washing dishes, brushing teeth or making ice.

The residential community’s water system serves 324 homes with a population of about 870.

Residents who have questions about their water quality can call 253-884-2088 or 253-884-4703.
